Over 10, 000 resigned beneficiaries of Forestry and other programs under the Youth Employment Agency [ YEA ] who joined the Nations Builders Corps [NABCO] are weeping bitterly since the NABCo Secretariat have refused to pay them their stipends for the past two months.
Some of the aggrieved beneficiaries spoke to the press in an interview, adding that, the reasons for NABCO not paying them is not yet known, hence, they suspect foul play.
"We are about 10,000 beneficiaries who resigned from Forestry and some other programs under YEA to join NABCO , we have officially tendered our resignation letter to YEA as demanded by NABCO , and we are aware that YEA have removed our names from their list but unfortunately, we haven't been paid, in fact we feel too much frustrated and disappointed ,we can't handle this hardships again ,some of us walk long distance before we got to the work place and we have gone for loans, but we don't know exactly the cause of the issue...we all support the government policy....please Nana Addo should come to our aid ", they reiterated.
Moreover ,the beneficiaries stated that, sometimes food for their families ,transportation to the work places and money to buy drugs for treatment when someone falls sick have been a major burden to them.
"Let me tell you , we are all family men and women , even money to buy drugs for our children have become a problem, how can you work without payment, our parents know very well that we are working so we can't even go to them for help and YEA too is not paying us now, in fact we need answers from NABCO Secretariat ...,we are giving them some days to settle the two months arrears or we will stage nationwide demonstration", they noted.
Furthermore, NABCO officials were not available to respond to journalist whilst filing this report.
